Been going to the same workshop in Al Quoz for years mostly out of habit, and last month my Xterra started overheating so I took it in. They came back with a full list, radiator, thermostat, hoses, flush, the works, total came to 4,200. Something felt off so I got a second opinion from a professional auto repair and maintenance in Dubai outfit that a guy at work recommended, and they found it was just a stuck thermostat and low coolant, fixed it for around 1,100 including parts. Now I am not saying the first place was scamming me exactly, maybe they saw other stuff I did not need yet, but the gap is hard to ignore. The annoying part is I trusted them for years and never questioned anything. How do you guys handle this, do you always get two quotes or is that overkill for smaller jobs? And has anyone found a garage that is actually consistent with pricing because I am tired of feeling like I am guessing every time.
