Lewis, McDonnell & Associates are relentless. Is this even a real debt? Need advice.
I’m being hounded by this agency, Lewis, McDonnell & Associates, and I’m at my wit's end. They call multiple times a day from different numbers, and the voicemails have that threatening tone, hinting at legal action if I don’t pay immediately. The problem is, the debt they’re mentioning is so old, I’m not even sure it’s mine anymore, or if it is, it has to be past the statute of limitations. I looked them up and found this article which basically says they specialize in buying up these old, bundled debts which can make validation really hard: Stop Lewis, McDonnell & Associates Debt Collection Harassment It confirms they can’t just threaten you and that I have the right to demand they prove the debt is valid and mine. The constant calls are one thing, but the intimidation tactics are another. I’m planning to send a debt validation letter via certified mail tomorrow to call their bluff. Has anyone successfully gotten them to back off by demanding proof? Or did they just keep calling? Any tips on dealing with the stress of this would be appreciated too.
