So my 2016 740Li just hit 100k km and it's time for the big service according to the computer. I called the agency and almost fell off my chair when they told me the price, something like 9 grand for spark plugs, filters, fluids, and a bunch of inspections. I know these cars aren't cheap to maintain but that seems absolutely bonkers. I've been looking at independent options and found a place that offers Complete BMW Servicing Abu Dhabi at about a third of the price using genuine parts. Has anyone gone the independent route for the major service on the G11 generation? I'm a bit nervous about losing the digital service history but honestly saving 6 grand is hard to ignore. The place I found seems to have good reviews and they use the proper diagnostic tools, but I'm wondering if there's any hidden catch like warranty issues or resale value taking a hit. Also does anyone know exactly what's supposed to be done at the 100k mark? I wanna make sure the indie actually does everything on the list and doesn't skip things like the cabin filters or the brake fluid flush. Would love to hear from people who've done this and whether you regretted saving the money or not. This car has been rock solid so far and I wanna keep it that way.
